No Weather Information
Bajo Nuevo Bank is a small uninhabited reef and shoal in the western Caribbean Sea characterized by low coral cays, shallow waters, and surrounding coral reef formations.
📍 Bajo Nuevo Bank is a small, remote reef system located in the southwestern Caribbean Sea, situated east of Nicaragua and northeast of Colombia. It lies far from major landmasses and has no permanent population, consiasting mainly of submerged reefs and a few small cays that rise just above sea level. The territory is disputed, with claims from multiple countries, though it is administered by Colombia.
Bajo Nuevo Bank’s geography is defined by its shallow coral reef platform, which covers a relatively wide area but has very little exposed land. The few visible cays are low-lying, sandy, and vulnerable to weather and sea conditions, with minimal vegetation. Surrounding waters are rich in marine biodiversity, making the area important for fisheries and ecological study. Its isolated position in the Caribbean has limited human activity, though it has historically been significant for navigation, territorial claims, and maritime boundaries.
