The Pitcairn Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the South Pacific Ocean consisting of volcanic islands characterized by rugged cliffs, tropical forests, and remote coastal landscapes.

📍 Pitcairn Islands are a British Overseas Territory located in the South Pacific Ocean, roughly midway between New Zealand and Peru. The territory consists of four islands—Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie, and Oeno—with no land borders and surrounded entirely by the Pacific Ocean.
The Pitcairn Islands’ geography is defined by a mix of volcanic and coral formations. Pitcairn Island, the only inhabited island, is volcanic with steep cliffs, rugged terrain, and limited flat land, while the others are low-lying coral atolls or raised coral islands. The total land area is about 47 square kilometers (18 square miles), though most of it is uninhabited. The islands feature rocky coastlines, clear waters, and limited freshwater sources. Their extreme isolation, small population, and natural environment have shaped their development, with an economy based on subsistence activities, limited tourism, and connections with the United Kingdom.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used worldwide in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country’s ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
