Wake Island is an unincorporated territory of the United States in the central Pacific Ocean characterized by a coral atoll with low sandy islands, lagoons, and surrounding coral reefs.

📍 Wake Island is a remote coral atoll located in the western Pacific Ocean, roughly midway between Hawaii and Japan. It is one of the United States Minor Outlying Islands administered by the United States and has no permanent civilian population.
Wake Island’s geography is defined by a triangular coral atoll composed of three main islets—Wake, Wilkes, and Peale—surrounding a central lagoon. The total land area is about 6.5 square kilometers (2.5 square miles), with low-lying terrain rising only a few meters above sea level. The islands are made up of coral sand and support sparse vegetation such as grasses and shrubs. The surrounding waters include coral reefs and are rich in marine life, while the island itself provides habitat for seabirds. Its remote location and strategic position in the Pacific have shaped its role in military operations, aviation, and regional logistics.
