Bhutanโs terrain is almost entirely mountainous, dominated by the Himalayan mountain range, with some of the highest peaks in the world along its northern border. The country features deep valleys, fast-flowing rivers, and dense forests that support rich biodiversity. Elevation changes sharply from subtropical plains in the south to alpine conditions in the north. Bhutanโs isolated location has helped preserve its unique culture and environment, while its position in the Himalayas has shaped its development, transportation, and way of life.
