Bhutan is a mountainous country in the eastern Himalayas of South Asia, characterized by high alpine peaks, deep river valleys, and dense forests across its rugged terrain.

๐Ÿ“ Bhutan is a small, landlocked country located in South Asia, nestled in the eastern Himalayas between two major Asian powers. It lies between China (Tibet region) to the north and India to the south, east, and west.
Bhutanโ€™s terrain is almost entirely mountainous, dominated by the Himalayan mountain range, with some of the highest peaks in the world along its northern border. The country features deep valleys, fast-flowing rivers, and dense forests that support rich biodiversity. Elevation changes sharply from subtropical plains in the south to alpine conditions in the north. Bhutanโ€™s isolated location has helped preserve its unique culture and environment, while its position in the Himalayas has shaped its development, transportation, and way of life.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used globally in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country's ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
