Burundi is a small landlocked country in East Africa characterized by rolling hills, highland plateaus, fertile valleys, and a shoreline along Lake Tanganyika.

๐Ÿ“ Burundi is a small, landlocked country located in East Africa, within the African Great Lakes region. It lies between Rwanda to the north, Tanzania to the east and south, and Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, with access to Lake Tanganyika along its southwestern border.
Burundiโ€™s terrain is mostly mountainous and hilly, with a central plateau and highlands that gradually descend toward the surrounding lowlands. The country is part of the Nile River basin, with several rivers flowing northward. Its location in the Great Lakes region gives it a relatively mild climate compared to other equatorial areas. Burundiโ€™s geography has influenced its agriculture, settlement patterns, and cultural connections within East Africa.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used globally in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country's ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
