Burundiโs terrain is mostly mountainous and hilly, with a central plateau and highlands that gradually descend toward the surrounding lowlands. The country is part of the Nile River basin, with several rivers flowing northward. Its location in the Great Lakes region gives it a relatively mild climate compared to other equatorial areas. Burundiโs geography has influenced its agriculture, settlement patterns, and cultural connections within East Africa.
