Papua New Guinea is a country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean characterized by rugged mountains, dense tropical rainforests, river valleys, and extensive coastlines across the eastern half of the island of New Guinea and numerous surrounding islands.

๐Ÿ“ Papua New Guinea is a country located in Oceania, occupying the eastern half of the island of New Guinea and numerous surrounding islands in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It is bordered by Indonesia to the west and lies north of Australia.
As a partially island nation, Papua New Guinea has one land border with Indonesia and is otherwise surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, along with nearby seas such as the Coral Sea and Bismarck Sea.
Papua New Guineaโ€™s terrain is highly mountainous and rugged, with dense tropical rainforests, river systems, and remote highlands. It is one of the most culturally and biologically diverse countries in the world. Its location in the Pacific has historically made it part of regional migration and trade routes among island and coastal communities.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used worldwide in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the countryโ€™s ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
