Tokelau is a territory of New Zealand in the South Pacific Ocean consisting of low-lying coral atolls characterized by lagoons, sandy islets, and surrounding coral reefs.

📍 Tokelau is a dependent territory of New Zealand located in the South Pacific Ocean, north of Samoa and west of Cook Islands. It consists of three small coral atolls—Atafu, Nukunonu, and Fakaofo—with no land borders and surrounded entirely by the Pacific Ocean.
Tokelau’s geography is defined by low-lying coral atolls with narrow strips of land encircling central lagoons. The total land area is about 12 square kilometers (4.6 square miles), with most of the territory only a few meters above sea level. The islands are flat and covered with coconut palms and tropical vegetation, while the lagoons and surrounding ocean support marine life. There are no rivers, and freshwater resources are limited. Its remote location, small land area, and fragile environment have shaped its small population, traditional lifestyle, and reliance on fishing, subsistence agriculture, and support from New Zealand.
