Kingman Reef
No Weather Information
Kingman Reef is an unincorporated territory of the United States in the central Pacific Ocean characterized by a largely submerged coral reef with small sandy islets and surrounding lagoons.
📍 Kingman Reef is a largely submerged coral reef located in the central Pacific Ocean, just north of the equator. It lies between Hawaii and American Samoa, and is one of the United States Minor Outlying Islands administered by the United States.
Kingman Reef’s geography is defined by a shallow, triangular coral atoll that is mostly submerged, with only small portions occasionally exposed above sea level. The land area is extremely limited—less than 1 square kilometer—while the surrounding lagoon and reef system cover a much larger marine area. The reef encloses a deep lagoon and is surrounded by rich marine ecosystems, including coral and diverse fish species. Due to its lack of stable land, freshwater, and vegetation, the reef has no permanent population. Its remote location and pristine marine environment make it important for scientific research and conservation.
