Throughout history, some cultures have survived exile. Others endured conquest.

But the story of the Uyghur people is one of cultural survival under intense modern pressure within their own homeland.

The Uyghurs are a Turkic ethnic group primarily living in the region known as

The Uyghurs trace their origins to Central Asian Turkic peoples.
